FAUSTO E. RIVAS | “FAUST”
FOUNDER & PRINCIPAL

Architect Statement - I am an architect which means I am an artist, working through the field of Architecture and Construction. Two fields primarily concerned with creation, which is often at odds with preservation.

Creation has become production for profit not looking beyond the payback period and without considering the effects of omitted beauty.

I'm alarmed by the speed and quantity of production and the lack of connection with the environment and its users. Though I am hopeful there will be a societal correction, this can’t be left unchecked.

I’ve given myself two important tasks

  1. To protect and improve the existing built and unbuilt environment.

  2. To create spaces / places / work with which you will connect and become places worth protecting themselves.

My creative process starts with observations, what emerges are drawings, paintings, photos. I then change the narratives through the making of collages, scale models, installations. Those new realities feed my architecture practice.

Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, raised in sunny Miami, Florida. In 2014, he graduated with a Professional BA in Architecture from The University of Miami. He started Fausto Rivas & Partners (FRAP Studio for short) in 2017.
